We have recently been finding that Sudden Hearing Loss is more prevalent than we realised and often people are offered nothing more than a hearing aid.
You can be assured Oxify is a safe, fulfilling experience
Please see below for Sam’s testimonial who joined us at Oxify for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy after being told his only option was to have a hearing aid fitted.
Sudden sensorineural (“inner ear”) hearing loss (SSHL), is an unexplained, rapid loss of hearing either all at once or over a few days. SSHL happens because there is something wrong with the sensory organs of the inner ear. Sudden deafness frequently affects only one ear.
People often notice they have sudden hearing loss when the wake up in the morning. It can also be noticed when the deafened ear is used to answer a phone call. Sometimes it can be associated with an alarming ‘pop’ just before the hearing disappears. People with sudden deafness may also notice other symptoms such as ear fullness, dizziness or tinnitus.
It is estimated that one in 5,000 people every year suffer from SSHL but often people put off going to the doctor as they think it is caused by something else such as allergies, a sinus infection or ear wax.
Sudden deafness is often treated with steroids if it is diagnosed early enough. Unfortunately it is sometimes not caught early enough or the steroids do not work, the recommended option after this is to have a hearing aid fitted.
But what if there was another therapy that could help?
At Oxify we have had a number of clients with sudden hearing loss who have experienced miraculous benefits from using the therapy. There was also a study done in 2012 which found that the use of HbOT resulted in full recovery of the hearing without tinnitus. This has also been found in other studies.
