Can HbOT help with Dementia & Alzheimer's?

Dementia is a crippling disease that affects millions of individuals throughout the world. While there is no known cure for dementia, there are numerous therapeutic options available to help manage symptoms and delay the advancement of the disease. Hyperbaric oxygen therapy, or HBOT for Dementia & Alzheimer’s, is emerging as a promising therapeutic approach.

HBOT is inhaling pure oxygen while within a hyperbaric chamber inflated to levels greater than atmospheric pressure. This treatment has been shown to enhance cognitive performance and decrease the course of dementia by increasing blood flow and oxygen supply to the brain.

Many studies have been undertaken to determine the efficacy of HBOT in the treatment of dementia. According to one study published in the journal Aging and Disease, HBOT can enhance cognitive performance in Alzheimer’s disease patients. During the course of three months, 14 individuals with mild to severe Alzheimer’s disease received 60 daily sessions of HBOT. The participants demonstrated substantial increases in cognitive function, as well as improvements in activities of daily living and quality of life, according to the study.

Another study published in the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease discovered that HBOT can reduce brain inflammation and enhance cognitive performance in Alzheimer’s disease-affected rats. HBOT lowered the expression of inflammatory genes in the mice’s brains and enhanced their memory performance, according to the researchers.

A case study published in the journal Neurocase discovered that HBOT can enhance cognitive performance in Alzheimer’s disease patients. The example of a 58-year-old lady with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease who received 40 sessions of HBOT over a two-month period was documented in the article. The woman’s cognitive performance improved significantly, including memory, attention, and executive function.
